A helm seat designed for a mid-size sport yacht, built to sit alongside teak decking, brushed metal hardware, and modern dashboard displays. The goal was to bring a more contemporary, performance driven feel into a market still dominated by traditional captain's chairs.
The form borrows from automotive bucket seats, with pronounced side bolsters and a sculpted headrest, but the proportions and base are reworked for marine use: a single pedestal mount, wider hip support for long days at the helm, and seam placement suited to spray and wear.
Two material studies show how the same shell adapts to different interiors. The first uses tan leather with honeycomb Alcantara inlays, aimed at classic Mediterranean yacht cabins. The second uses a yellow textured fabric over a charcoal base with integrated armrests, aimed at sportier day cruisers where the helm becomes a focal point. The final render places the seat in its intended environment, so it reads in context: a single helm station with chart plotter, throttle, and wood rimmed wheel.
