Gutierrez Reinizio Sustainable yacht concept combines elements from the traditional naval architecture and sustainable engineering. The 130 ft yacht concept uses solar and wind to power 75 percent of the ship. The sails are composed of elastic solar panels assimilating the canvas used in traditional sailing boats. This is made possible by the dynamic unions between the panels. In addition, the yacht has one main inboard engine that produces 900 HP (horsepower) and two outrigger engines that produce 200 HP, totaling 1100 HP. This makes it possible for the ship to move at about 30 knots. The trimaran configuration was chosen to reduce keel size and improve the performance of the ship. In addition, the sails are fully autonomous and it only requires a switch to set sail!
